Description

Educational Program Support

Financial support for educational programs at Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva day school and the 375 enrolled students.

Leadership Development for Student Leaders

This Rutgers Hillel initiative supports training for first year Impact Fellows, Peer Network Interns, and Hillel Institute Student Leadership Training to foster Jewish leadership development and student involvement on campus.

Shabbat Dinner

Shabbat dinner is the most popular program at Rutgers Hillel, serving an average of 225 students per week. These dinners are the gateway to Jewish campus life, building community and connecting Jewish friends.

Middlesex County College Outreach and Shabbat Program

In the absence of any formal Jewish organizational effort to attract and engage students at Middlesex County College (MCC), Rutgers Hillel intends to hire a student to identify and engage in outreach, based on the Peer Network Intern model. In addition Rutgers

Hillel will run two Shabbat dinners (1 per semester) and invite MCC students to attend Rutgers Hillel Shabbat dinners.

JMed

Rutgers Jewish Xperience attracts Rutgers pre-med Jewish students and demonstrates how Jewish values are relevant and integral to a successful medical career as participants learn about Jewish principles through internships and community service activities.

Theater Studio J

This innovative HPCT-CAE afternoon program engages youngsters to act in a Jewish-themed play that incorporates an educational curriculum, while teaching Jewish values in an accessible way to children of affiliated and unaffiliated families.

Teen Scholarship for IMPACT DC

Bnai Brith Youth Organizations (BBYO)  IMPACT DC curriculum supports grassroots service, advocacy and philanthropy through summer skills sessions, leadership exercises and peer-led and developed projects. Teens learn how to lead in a meaningful way and learn skills that can be applied to their experience in school, life and for years to come.

Taglit-Birthright Israel

Taglit-Birthright Israel provides a free 10-day peer group, educational trip to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26 from around the world. One of its primary objectives is to motivate participants to explore their Jewish identity through a peer educational experience of historic and contemporary Israel.

US Holocaust Memorial Museum Trip

The Daniel Pearl Education Center at Temple Bnai Shalom, coordinates an annual free interfaith trip to the US Holocaust Museum in DC for Jewish teens from EBJC, B’nai Brith & Young Israel East Brunswick as well as non- Jewish teens from St. Bartholomew’s school, India Association of Garden State, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.

 

One Happy Camper

JFGMC and the Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC) provide incentive grants of $750 - $1,000 for children who have never attended a Jewish overnight camp and do not attend a Jewish day school.

Educational Program Support

Financial support for educational programs at Netivot Montessori Yeshiva and the 110 enrolled students.

PJ Library family experience

JFGMC provides free, high-quality Jewish books and music to more than 600 children age 6 months through 6 years through the PJ Library program, and connects their families with free community programs every month.

Rutgers Hillel Center for Israel Engagement (RHCIE)

RHCIE seeks to be a model for excellence in Israel engagement, education, and advocacy on campus, providing students with increased Israel knowledge and advocacy to create a campus environment favorable to Israel, and reduce the impact of anti-Israel hostility activities.

Rutgers Hillel - The Peoplehood Project

Rutgers Hillel offers a free, 10 week long enriched version of an ‘Introduction to Judaism’ class that targets the unaffiliated, Birthright alumni and reform students. A stipend provides additional Jewish development and makes a donation to the charity of their choice.

Hazamir New Brunswick

The Hazamir New Brunswick Jewish high school choir attracts participants from different synagogues as well as the unaffiliated.

Educational Program Support for Hebrew Schools

JFGMC provides financial support for Middlesex’s 950 religious after- school students, helping children learn new skills and ideas, and struggle with questions of theology, meaning, and connection at an age-appropriate level.

Teen Grants to Israel

JFGMC provides one-time grants of $1,000 for teens entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade traveling on an organized youth Zionist trip of three weeks or more. Teens may also apply for an additional $1,000 competitive grant for summer travel.

Federation Community Grants

Federation is piloting an “innovation fund” to invest in emerging initiatives that fulfill one of the core elements of “Inspire the Next Generation” and support the entrepreneurial spirit of those who seek new ways to participate in Jewish life.
